Overview
The tour begins with an 8:30 AM pick up in Merida. Embark on a 2-hour drive to the small village of Ek Balam, where Mayan is the most widely spoken language.
First, enjoy a relaxing tour of the village in the company of a local guide. Discover how this community brings together traditions and modernity, using tourism in a new way to reinforce its identity and improve the quality of life of its community, while safeguarding the natural and cultural richness it possesses. Learn about the traditional way of life and homes of the Maya people of Yucatán. Participate in workshops as you learn how to prepare tortillas by hand, weave hammocks, and do machine embroidery.
Then, continue to Cenote X-Canché, located inside the archaeological site of Ek Balam, making it the ideal place to rest before or after your visit. To get to the cenote, you will take a 2 km bike or tuk tuk ride through the jungle. Refresh and rest while appreciating the biodiversity that revolves around the body of water.
At the end of your visit, enjoy a traditional Yucatecan dish at the cooperative’s restaurant. Visit the archaeological site, renowned for its entirely Mayan architecture. Finally, around 5 PM, you return to Merida where your tour concludes.

When traveling on your own, you are responsible for following the itinerary and activities at the designated times. Local guides speak Spanish. Failure to meet scheduled times will result in a no show.
