Time to (dis)connect.
San Agustín is a small Mayan community located in the heart of the Puuc Biocultural State Reserve in the southern Yucatan. Away from the main urban centers and with little communication, the local cooperative offers the opportunity to disconnect and enjoy the tranquility of the village through a community tour where you can learn about the economic activities to which the local population is dedicated, such as the sustainable production of charcoal and wooden furniture, the embroidery of traditional clothing and the cultivation of vegetables and medicinal plants in an agroforestry plot. The tour ends with a visit to some archaeological remains located on the outskirts of the community.
For adventure lovers, the cooperative also offers bike rides on a 9 km trail through the jungle, where it is possible to admire the vegetation of the area and visit the local apiaries (beehives) until you reach the Aktun Chen Ku cave.
In addition, the cooperative offers traditional Yucatecan dishes made with local produce and has a camping area under the stars.
