San Agustín, a small Maya community located in the heart of the Puuc Biocultural State Reserve in southern Yucatán, is more than just a tourist destination.

It is a place where you can disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse yourself in the serenity of nature and the richness of the Maya culture.

A walk through community life

In San Agustín, you will have the opportunity to learn about the economic activities of the local population.

The local cooperative offers a community tour that takes you through the sustainable production of charcoal and wooden furniture, the embroidery of typical garments and the cultivation of vegetables and medicinal plants in an agroforestry plot.

The visit ends with a trip to the archaeological remains located on the outskirts of the community.

Adventures in the jungle

For adventure lovers, the cooperative offers bicycle tours on a 9 km trail through the jungle. Here you can admire the lush vegetation of the area, visit the local apiaries and finally reach the Aktun Chen Ku cave.

In addition, the cooperative offers delicious Yucatecan dishes made from locally grown crops. And if you are looking for a place to spend the night, they have an area for camping under the stars.
